Better volleyball defence starts with a low, balanced ready position, reading the setter and hitter early, staying still as the attacker contacts the ball, and digging with a stable platform aimed high to the middle of your court.

Frequently asked questions
Where should defensive digs go?
High and toward the middle of your own court, so the setter or another player can play it.
How do I read a hitter?
Watch their approach angle, shoulder and arm swing to predict direction.
Should defenders use their hands?
On balls above the shoulders, an overhand dig with hands is allowed and often effective.
